How to Wear Tights with Heels
Pairing tights with heels (or any dress shoe) can be a hit-or-miss type of style!
Never wear the same color heel as your tights. Black heels with black tights just looks weird. An exception would be if the tights are multi-colored or have a textured design, like lace or fishnet. But don't ever pair a tight with the same colored shoe. Ever.
If your tights have an obvious line in them from stitching, then it's best to wear close-toed heels with them. Often, tights will have that noticeable stitching in the toes, and if you can't turn that stitching down so it can't be seen, wearing a closed-toed heel is your best bet to avoid drawing attention to yourself.
Try to avoid heels with straps in them when you are wearing tights. You'll know why the second you try to mix tights with straps. The material of the tights bunches around the strap of the heels, making them look bulky around the ankles and heels. Not the most appealing appearance.
Make sure that your tights don't clash with the color shoe you are wearing. Magenta tights with a cream-colored heel is a pretty combination, however, pairing the same colored tights with a pink heel may not be. Stick to fashion color mixing sense- if the colors wouldn't match in your clothing, they won't match with your heels and tights either.
High-heeled boots love bold-colored tights, since a majority of the tights will be covered. Consider wearing your purple, red, or other jewel-toned tights with a boot instead of a heel, so you can make a fashion statement without looking overwhelmed by your brightly toned tights.
If you are thicker framed, try to avoid thicker tights that can make your body look bulkier than it is. Stick to whatever color you'd like, but choose a more sheer tight so you can minimize your frame. If you have thin legs, wearing thicker tights can make you feel warmer and make you look like you have a fuller figure. Choose tights that suit your frame and style best.
