Week 6: "Biggest Loser" Contestants Become Two Teams
The Biggest Loser contestants get divided into two teams -- Red and Black. The weigh in proved the validity of the different training methods.
The contestants faced a temptation challenge -- a room filled with chocolate. Each player had three minutes alone in the room. Whoever eats the most chocolate would win the challenge. The winner of the temptation could trade two players from the other team or keep the teams as is. An added bonus was that no one would find out who ate the most chocolate.
Brett and Cara's people ate a lot of the chocolates. Q ate four pieces of chocolate. Rulon ate five pieces. Moses ate 21 pieces. Arthur of the Black Team, though, ate 35 pieces by himself. He binged on so much of the candy that it looked like a feeding frenzy. Arthur admitted to eating the most candy. He traded Jen and Jay to the Red Team while Sara and Deni went to the Black Team. Arthur admitted to not trusting Jen and Jay and to playing the game. He admitted that he picked Sarah and Deni because they were weak and he planned to send them home. Most of the other players were not happy.
All of the trainers were surprised to see the new additions to their teams. When players explained the temptation challenge, Bob and Jillian were not happy. They were especially unhappy to learn that Arthur ate 35 candies and the reason why he did it. Bob and Jillian told him that he put a target on his back. His team was not happy with him either.
All of the contestants trained together in the gym for the first time. It was as if the new trainers were trying to prove that they were just as good as Bob and Jillian. They were loud and aggressive as if to tell the Black Team they were there to win. Black Team members complained about how loud the Red Team was. Jillian was obviously not happy with the situation. I got a headache just listening to Brett and Cara scream. Jillian gave Arthur a personal session after his bad decision at the temptation.
The first physical challenge as two teams included five sections, consisting of endurance, speed, agility, strength and knowledge activities. They had to push a rock blindfolded, stack bricks, arrange food according to calories, balance on telephone poles, shoot arrows at heart-shaped targets and put a puzzle together. The Black Team took the lead quickly. They won videos from home.
Both teams had impressive weight losses. Only five players lost less than 10 lbs. The Red Team's Moses set a "Biggest Loser" record, losing 100 lbs. in six weeks. Jen lost 14 lbs. and had the highest percentage of weight loss, 6.07 percent. The team lost a total of 97 lbs., a 3.43 percentage of weight loss. The Black Team needed to lose 77 lbs. They exceeded this weight loss, losing 99 lbs. with a total percentage of 4.38.
The Red Team went to the elimination room. Q, who has not been working as hard as the team wanted, was sent home unanimously. After he made promises to his wife last week, he followed her home. As of this week's "Biggest Loser," Q lost a total of 92 lbs., weighing 345 lbs.
Like Dan and Don, Q actually did better at home than he did on the ranch. It just proved that, even in a controlled environment, some people don't get the weight-loss results they want.
