"Where are your shoes?" Petra asked looking down at Tara's feet.
Tara looked at her bare feet. She had never worn any shoes, so she was not sure why Petra was asking about her shoes.
"I don't have any shoes," Tara explained rather shyly.
"No shoes?" Petra exclaimed, "why not?"
Tara looked once more at her feet.
"Momma said that angels have no need of shoes and I am her angel!"
Petra laughed aloud, "Then where are your wings?"
Tara touched her shirt and could feel her wings, tucked neatly in place.
Smiling Tara explained, "They are right here under my shirt."
Petra reached over and touched the back of Tara's shirt. Sure enough, Petra could feel her wings.
"Tara…you really are an angel!" Petra exclaimed happily.
"I told you!" Tara said.
Petra moved a bit closer, looking at Tara with much curiosity.
"Can you fly?" Petra whispered.
Tara puffed her little chest out and stated proudly.
"Yes I can!"
Petra was so excited.
"I have never seen an angel fly!"
Tara looked at Petra grinning.
"And I have never seen someone wearing shoes!"

"Tara if I let you wear my shoes, will you take me flying?"
Tara thought for a minute and decided this would be such fun!
"Okay but we have to make it quick because Momma will be calling me for dinner soon."
Petra slipped her sandals off her feet and placed them on Tara's feet.
"Okay my turn," said Petra, holding out her arms as if Tara was going to whisk her away.
"Close your eyes and don't open them until we land safely," instructed Tara.
Petra agreed. She closed her eyes and stood very still, anticipating the flight.
Tara took Petra's hands and it was not long before they were flying above the clouds.
After a time, Tara brought Petra down, softly landing on their sandy beach.
"You can open your eyes now Petra," said Tara smiling.
"Thank you for letting me wear your shoes!" Tara said sweetly.
Taking off Petra's shoes, she handed them back to Petra.
"Thank you for taking me flying," said Petra happily.
Tara looked down at her feet and realized her feet were once again bare.
