Shop outlets
About 20 minutes from my little town, there is an outlet mall. It is filled with all different stores, but the one I am most interested in is the Coach store. I have been there a few times in the last three years. They have some amazing deals if you are willing to wear an outdated design. I am usually one season behind anyway, so buying a purse at the outlet makes sense to me. I got a traditional Coach shoulder bag for $89, and the regular retail price was around $300.
Check the thrift stores
I am an avid Goodwill and Salvation Army shopping. In the area I am from, there are at least four Goodwill stores in a short driving distance, including one I can walk to in the summer. I have found many brands I like at these stores. I purchased a medium Speedy Louis Vuitton for $30. It was a little beaten up on the inside, but the outside was gorgeous. The new retail price for this purse brand new is $775.00. I got an amazing deal!
Buy on Craigslist or Ebay
Purchasing items online has never been easier. Communication and location play a huge part in what you will be able to find. I personally have only bought one purse this way, and it was a graffiti-type Coach. I paid $40 for it, and it was exactly as the seller described. I was very pleased with the end results, and I cannot wait to find more deals like this.
I have learned that I can still have nice things without paying high prices. I don't always have to be "in season" with my handbags, but I do like to have them sport a brand name. Living on a limited budget doesn't always allow for me to have expensive items, but I can have "new to me" items that I will enjoy just the same.
