How to Choose the Right Women's Dress Boots
Are you looking for the perfect pair of women's dress boots? Maybe you have a new holiday dress and are considering dress boots to go with it. Here are a few tips on choosing the right dress boots for you.
First off you need to decide what type of boots you are looking for. Are you looking for work boots, hiking boots, snow boots or dress boots? For this article we will be talking about dress boots. The perfect shoe for any holiday party.
Once you have decided that you want to buy a pair of dress boots you need to decide what type of clothing that you will be wanting to wear them with. Do you want them to wear mainly with pants, jeans or long skirts and dresses? Maybe you have the most perfect new holiday party dress that you want to wear the boots with.
There are several different heights available when it comes to dress boots. The shortest boots available are ankle height boots. Then if you would like something higher than that, there are boots that are about a mid-calf height. If you want even higher then you have the knee high boots and finally the highest boots are the thigh high boots.
Now you need to decide what clothes you will be wearing your boots with. For long pants and/or jeans you could go with the ankle height boots or even the mid-calf height boots. For long skirts and dresses the mid-calf boots look best. For regular dress and skirts that are about knee length the mid-calf to knee high boots will look the best. Lastly you have the thigh high boots. The thigh high boots are pretty much a personal choice. I've seen no use in wearing boots that high. The only time I've seen women wearing these are when they were SUPER short clothes. So most women will probably never have a need for these.
You will also want to think about heel size and height. I, for one, can not walk one slender heels. Stillettos are out of the question. My heel width has to be the same or very close to the boot's width. I also can not walk on a heel any higher than three inches or my ankles will be aching for many days to come. So you will want to think about that and probably try on several different boots to compare heel height and width in order to find the right one for you to wear. It may take several different stores and many different styles of dress boots before you find the right one. My newest pair took me two weeks and ten different stores before I found them. It can be a time consuming task to find the perfect boot for your body and style preferences.
So if you are going to a holiday party in that new holiday dress you will want to look at the length of the dress and how formal the dress is before you decide on the type of dress boots you will need. If it's a formal cocktail dress then you are probably better off going with a regular high heeled dress shoe. If your dress is a more casual dress, for example a nice wrap dress, then you can wear a nice pair of dress boots. Any heel height and width will work. You will probably want to look at a boot that is a mid-calf to a knee high in size to have the best look going for you.
In the end, be prepared to take your own sweet time in finding the perfect dress boot. I do not suggest buying boots online. You will need to try boots on in person before buying them. Some boots will fit tighter than others and if you are looking for a knee high or thigh high boot you will need to know that your leg will fit comfortably inside of the boot. With these types of boots it's not just a matter of your shoe size. It's all about the size of your leg also. So take your time, be prepared to go to several stores and make sure that your feet are ready to try on many, many pairs of boots. Make sure that you walk around in the boots for a few minutes. Don't just try them one and stand up then take them off. You should definitely take a walk around to see if the boots rub your toes or pinch your ankles or cut off the circulation in your legs. Make sure that you wear the type of sock, stockings or hose when trying the boots on that you plan to wear with the boots regularly. You wouldn't want to be wearing a thinner sock to try the boots on, only to wear a thicker sock once you start wearing your boots regularly. This could cause the boots to feel too tight when you thought they were just right the day you purchased them.
I hope that these tips will help you in your journey to find just the right pair of women's dress boots.
