Planet Fitness 30 Minute Workout
. I can walk five miles before my socks run flat and my shoes hurt my feet, but I still get my tail kicked on the 30 minute workout at Planet Fitness.
For the past year and a half, I have had a gym membership and I've used it. I have consistently gone to the gym between three and five times a week. I even paid for a personal trainer for the first year. I've lost about 15 pounds. That's it. Of course, I had some obstacles and without going into too many private details, we'll just sayI had no core strength and had to rebuild my abs from the ground up.
It was tough. I succeeded in rebuilding all my core strength and more. I can walk five miles before my socks run flat and my shoes hurt my feet, but I still get my tail kicked on the 30 minute workout at Planet Fitness.
For those who don't know, the 30 minute workout is a timed workout using a mock traffic light. Green means go. Red means stop and change machines. The first station is a six inch step. You step up. You step down, and you do that for about a minute. Then, you move to the Leg Press. You do that for a minute. Then another step. All in all, it's about 15 minutes of constant weight lifting and 15 minutes of constant stepping.
The weight machines work out the entire body from legs to arms to back and abs. The steps are simply there to keep your heart rate up and burn calories. I burn somewhere between 250 and 300 calories.
I don't do the 30 minute workout very often. I can mostly be found walking the treadmill or bicycling. Both of those exercises I do for 40 or 50 minutes. Last Wednesday, my brother enticed me into doing the 30 minute workout. I agreed. I also remembered the first time I did the 30 minute workout. I thought I was going to puke on station 14. I didn't. This time I felt like I was going to puke on station 18. That's improvement. Next time maybe I'll make it through the entire workout (20 stations) without feeling the need to purge my guts.
The next day, my calves hurt and my arms hurt. It was obviously a good workout. I don't feel 50 minutes on the treadmill anymore, and I think if I got used to it, I'd be able to do the 30 minute workout three days a week or every other day. I'm not sure how often I'll incorporate it into my workout routine, but I thought it worth mentioning: that 30 minute workout is no joke.
