Is Kardashian-Jenner Machine Running Out of Steam for Reality TV Show Celebrities?
Usually where there’s smoke there’s fire! Speculation continues to soar as clock ticks on Jenner-Kardashians’ 15 minutes of reality TV fame.
The flurry of media speculation set off by Ricki Lake's non-discreet mention that the Kardashian matriarch's stint as host of Fox daytime talk show "Kris" had also run its course -- after Lake confirmed to USAToday that her revised show "Ricki" was being canceled for the second time -- is no longer Jenner's biggest concern.
Having flatly denied Lake's assertion, explaining network execs hadn't yet decided whether the show would be picked up for another season, Kris disclosed she and former Olympian husband Bruce Jenner had separated.
But timing of Jenner's latest news seems suspiciously like a diversionary tactic rather than a disclosure given just as original reality series "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," which began the public's fascination with the family, was about to enter its eighth season on the E! network.
Given that the couple revealed they have been living apart for some time, this separation bombshell directly on the heels of Lake's claim of the possible demise of Jenner's show, conveniently before new episodes of the family's series were set to begin airing -- smelled of a major red herring.
Also regular viewers will recall a past episode in which Jenner contemplated resuming use of the Kardashian name. It seems we all missed that not so subtle indication of what was brewing underneath the surface of the apparent façade the pair was presenting to the world at the time.
However, if it does prove to be true that would mean the lucrative popularity of the Kardashian brand not only doesn't extend to TV talk but also may be running out of steam. Hear the sound of a sputtering engine...slowly dying out?

Well, you can't blame a gal for trying, especially when being host of a talk show seems to be the thing to do. So, along with her brood, Jenner was merely trying to leverage her 'celebrity' status as much as she could for as long as she could. The much-hyped interview with Kanye West (baby daddy to newborn granddaughter North West or "Norie," from daughter Kim Kardashian and the rapper/now fiancé), apparently may not have been enough to help save Jenner's show from potential cancellation.
Another last ditch effort to sustain the presumably precarious state of her talk show included exclusive revealing of the first pic of the adorable newborn, and latest addition to the Kardashian clan during West's highly publicized appearance.

Her latest likely attempt at spin control might be just the tip of the iceberg for the empire that 'reality' built, as new mom Kim gave birth to her rebound guy's child following a disastrous 72-day marriage and prolonged divorce from NBA player Kris Humphries.

Shot at the Jenner compound in Calabasas, FL, the ensemble show that put the family dynasty on the road to notoriety and public scrutiny by those keeping up with the Kardashians on WEtv, spawned several spinoffs. Taped at different locales, the most recent offshoot was "Khloé amp; Lamar" with daughter Khloe and NBA player hubby Lamar Odom, who's currently under fire for purported crack cocaine use.
Daughter Kourtney, who has two children out-of wedlock with longtime beau Scott Disick, has been under the radar as of late. Jenner was frequently depicted as a weary momager besieged with various marketing deals to negotiate for the Kardashian girls.

The cities they chose for spinoffs were largely dependent upon the locations where the Kardashian sisters were opening Dash shops, their signature clothing boutiques. The cameras follow the female siblings as they open new branch outlets and interact with staff members.
Father of two biological daughters with Kris, Bruce, always the odd-man out in the midst of the Kardashian machinations, is stepdad to the three older Kardashian girls and Kris' son Rob, the only adult male Kardashian. He's described himself as being "low-key." It's no wonder in a family that is apparently dominated by strong willed females. However, true-to his circumstances with little opportunity to standout in a positive way, Rob managed to eke out a niche for himself by way of a fashion sock line.

And amid it all Jenner slights current hubby Bruce. She acknowledged publicly that despite admittance of her adultery, her greatest regret is divorcing first spouse Robert Kardashian. He came to prominence as one of the key "Dream Team" defense attorneys for NFL Great and Heisman trophy winner O.J. Simpson, in what is considered the [murder] "Trial of the Century."
Is the breakup of the kardashian-Jenner marriage of 22-years purely business as usual? Or is it merely keeping up with appearances, as the two state they're fine and are happy living apart. Bruce will appear in the new season's episodes already taped, but will they show how he really feels about Kris' insensitive statement in light of their present circumstances? Might future scenes depict that reaction? Well, he attended Thanksgiving dinner and is also in this year's holiday card , if that's any indication?
Although the clock is still ticking on their 15 minutes of reality TV fame, evidenced by continued Kardashian tabloid fodder, it appears the writing's on the wall. Stay tuned. For a family all about fame, anything's possible.
