"Xena: Warrior Princess' the Next Generation?

The Huffington Post reports that Lucy Lawless, who starred as "Xena: Warrior Princess" in the long running fantasy adventure series that ran from 1995 through 2001, has an idea to bring back the show and to create a new "warrior princess."
There are a couple of problems concerning a revival of the series.
The first is that there seems to be some question as to who actually owns the rights. There is nothing like having lawyers fight things out to delay things.
The other problem is that Xena got her head cut off in the final episode, which usually means that a character is quite permanently dead. However, this being a fantasy series, that's just the sort of thing that one of the Olympian gods can fix with a way of his or her hand.
Lawless articulated how the revived series or perhaps movie would run.
"In my dreams it would be that Renee [O'Connor, who played Gabrielle] and I, and Ted [Raimi], who played Joxer, would come back and basically stick Xena's head back on her and go on a quest. At the end you introduce this new Warrior Princess, hand it over and let them run with it. So we could put the family back together, give the fans what they want, reinvigorate the brand and hand it on to a new generation."
All well and good. While one can still do a lot of running, jumping, and butt kicking in one's 40s, given diet and exercise, the day to day grind of doing battle with monsters, demigods, and other evil doers is a young woman's game. "Warrior Princess: The Next Generation" could be just the thing to bring back the series. It has been done before.
One aspect of the original series that might do with a little fixing is how fast and loose it played with Ancient Greek history and myth. It was not just the creative, non period costuming and set design that often distracted the viewer, but the way the series compressed 2,000 years of history. Xena and her friends were supposed to have lived in the heroic era of Greece, when the gods still walked the Earth and mythic heroes like Theseus and Odysseus fought and adventured. So what was Xena doing having at Julius Caesar, not to mention vampires and samurai?
